NICK Salter's Port Adelaide career is in jeopardy with scans to determine whether he has suffered another serious foot injury.

Tall utility Salter - considered lucky to have retained his spot on the Power's list after failing to play an AFL game last season - has felt pain in his "good" foot and the club is concerned he has stress fractures.

Salter, 25, played just five SANFL games last season after suffering stress fractures in the pre-season on the same foot he had surgery on in 2011.

Now Port fears he has suffered serious damage to his other foot.

"He's been to see a second specialist because his other foot has been getting sore," football operations manager Peter Rohde said.

"He's had some pain for a couple of weeks so we're just waiting for a report so we can find out exactly what the problem is."

The key Woodville-West Torrens forward who the Power has tried to turn into a key defender has played only 21 AFL games since debuting in 2008.

Salter already has been ruled out of the club's opening NAB Cup clashes against Adelaide and St Kilda on Sunday.

Port has also ruled out former captain Dom Cassisi (calf), forwards Robbie Gray (knee), John Butcher (hip) and Cameron Hitchcock (foot), ruckmen Brent Renouf (knee) and Matthew Lobbe (hamstring) and utility Darren Pfeiffer (shoulder).

New captain Travis Boak (knee soreness) is under an injury cloud.

The Power will rotate 34 players through its two 20/20 games on Sunday. It is poised to trial a host of new players, including former Bomber Angus Monfries, former Swan Campbell Heath and top draft pick Ollie Wines, who were impressive in Friday night's 129-point slaughter of the Port Magpies in the practice match at Alberton Oval.

Other new draft picks Kane Mitchell, Tom Clurey, Jake Neade and Mason Shaw also are in line for NAB Cup action after strong performances against the Pies.
