BRISBANE coach Michael Voss says the club's first NAB Cup grand final victory has given the Lions every opportunity to have a successful 2013.

But he warned nothing is guaranteed when Brisbane play for premiership points on March 30.

Voss and the Lions were treading a fine line in the Etihad Stadium dressing rooms last night between celebrating the 40-point win over Carlton while keeping a cautious eye on the round 1 clash with the Western Bulldogs at the same ground.

Brisbane's undefeated NAB Cup campaign has uncovered good depth in Brisbane's list, showcased the team's fighting qualities and an improved fitness base.

Brisbane players sang the club song with gusto but the focus quickly returned to rehabilitation and recovery.

"It's good for us in terms of our preparation (for the home-and-away season),'' Voss said.

"These guys have been working very hard. There's certainly been lots of periods when we've been working hard but haven't been been able to celebrate much.

"So to be able to have a little bit of celebration for tonight and then park it tomorrow and then we move on...that's the way it's got to be.

"A lot of our things are starting to come together but we've still got a hell of a lot of things to do in a few areas.

"The capacity to be able to finish out games strong is becoming a hallmark of our team.

"We've managed our players pretty well.

"They've all had a little bit of a rest here and there so we haven't cooked our players. We'll come in pretty healthy into the season.

"They scrambled in defence, Carlton didn't get away from us then we had our day in the sun.''

Voss was delighted by the effort of his midfield which dominated the middle of the ground.

Recruit Brent Moloney had 11 clearances amongst his 23 disposals and with Chris Judd underdone and the influence of new skipper Marc Murphy limited, the Lions midfield held sway.

Carlton coach Mick Malthouse also lamented how his highly rated on-ball division was outplayed by Brisbane.

"Tonight was terrible. We got smashed. It will take two to three months to fix some of the issues,'' Malthouse said.

Michael Tuck medallist Daniel Rich said the young Lions were hungry for success in the premiership proper.

"It's a little bit of a reward for the hard work (in pre-season) but we've got to move on pretty quickly,'' he said.

"The focus is round 1. It's been the focus for all of the pre-season.''

The NAB Cup win is priceless for the confidence of a Brisbane side desperate to climb out of the bottom half of the ladder after an improved 2012 which delivered 10 wins.

Pearce Hanley had 30 disposals while Dayne Zorko had 26 touches and kicked two goals.
