RARELY does a match featuring the bottom two teams who both have yet to open their accounts have such interest, but the Giants' match against Melbourne has plenty.
The main focus is on Demons coach Mark Neeld. His hopes of hanging on to his job are slim at best and a loss tomorrow would almost certainly mean a hasty sacking.
Port Adelaide sacked Matthew Primus the week after the Power lost to the Giants in round 19 last year and a similar fate awaits Neeld should the Demons lose.
Giants coach-in-waiting Leon Cameron knows just how important the match is.
"The Melbourne game is massive for both clubs," Cameron said.
"The stakes are high we're not going to shy away from it -- they're 0-3 and we're 0-3, we want to win and they want to win.
"It will be a great test of our mental strength and our character to push through this game and take them on."
After a bright start to the year against the Swans and the first three-quarters of the round two match against Port Adelaide, the Giants fell away badly against Port and then St Kilda last week.
"You don't want to use excuses, the facts are we are a very young side," Cameron said.
"The drop-off is something we have to keep working through, it's as simple as that.
"For the first 15 or 18 minutes of each quarter, nine times out of 10 we're in the match in terms of statistics.
"If something goes wrong around the 20-minute mark it should send an alarm bell to some of our players."
KEY MATCH-UPS
Phil Davis v Mitch Clark
Giants' Phil Davis gets the best forward the opposition has to offer each week, this time around it's Mitch Clark. If he can contain Clark, the Demons are left with few goal scoring options.
Callan Ward V Colin Sylvia
Colin Sylvia was in good form last week and provides a huge part of the Demons' drive. Callan Ward has the size, strength and endurance to go with him and hurt him when the Giants have the ball.
Jack Trengove v Tom Scully
Tom Scully would love to put in a great performance against his old club, especially after the way the Demons' fans treated him last year. A match up against the co-captain Jack Trengove would be great to see.
TACTICS
The start of this match is vital, both teams have shown a tendency to fall away as soon as a gap opens up. Melbourne has done it in all their matches so far, last week the break came in the second half.
If they are to win, GWS will need a sustained effort, something they've only produced against the Swans.
VERDICT
Melbourne by 30 points
