ADELAIDE today will debate which Crows need to build up their tanks in SANFL trials - but there will be total rest for specialist forwards Jason Porplyzia and Ian Callinan.
Porplyzia yesterday left hospital where tests revealed the stomach pains he suffered after Adelaide's three-point win against Carlton in the NAB Cup game at AAMI Stadium on Friday night are related to an unexpected ulcer.
Callinan has a medial ligament strain to his left knee that was knocked in the first quarter of the clash with the Blues.
Adelaide says both Porplyzia and Callinan should be back in full training next week when the Crows will prepare for opening the AFL premiership season against Essendon at West Lakes on Friday week.
Porplyzia and Adelaide's medicos were mystified by the pain Porplyzia suffered post-game as he had no re-collection of being hit in the torso.
He was vomiting after the match and forced to have tests and an overnight stay in hospital where the ulcer was discovered.
Porplyzia is more likely than Callinan to contend for Adelaide's first 22 against the Bombers after the Crows watched fellow small forward Jared Petrenko make an extraordinary comeback from his shoulder surgery against the Blues.
This was Petrenko's first competitive game of the pre-season.
Adelaide today will debate if Petrenko should work up more match fitness in SANFL trials with Woodville-West Torrens at the weekend.
The Crows certainly will seek AFL permission to have young defender Sam Shaw - whose pre-season has been held back by patela tendinitis in a knee - play with his SANFL club Glenelg this week.
Midfielder-defender Richard Tambling also is a strong contender for SANFL action with Sturt, considering his limited match work since he reported back problems after Adelaide's trial game against Fremantle on February 23.
Adelaide's pre-season mission to get at least two games into every player was achieved as the Crows cast away the NAB Cup title won in 2012 to prepare a squad to be in prime condition for September's AFL finals.
The only cost of the pre-season is the loss of impressive midfielder-defender Brodie Smith, who broke a collarbone in the NAB Cup opening round.
