IT isn't just the debut of Kurt Tippett which has rivals looking over their shoulders.

The Swans are set to welcome back grand final stars Lewis Jetta and Sam Reid from injury.

The three big inclusions come into a team which beat Adelaide by 77 points two weeks ago at AAMI Stadium.

After a week off the Swans return to Adelaide to face the Power on Saturday afternoon.

Jetta and Reid will have to prove their fitness at Swans training today.

"We're not going to push them if they're not right," Swans coach John Longmire said.

"Sam Reid ran on Monday and Lewis ran yesterday but they both need to ramp it up."

Jetta suffered shin soreness in round 10 against Essendon and Reid hurt his quadriceps tendon in round nine against Collingwood. Both have benefited from the extra week off courtesy of the bye.

Last year the Swans returned from the mid-year break revitalised and went on a seven-game winning streak.

"They've trained hard this week but the proof comes in how they play," Longmire said.

While the news is positive on Jetta and Reid, it's not so good for defenders Rhyce Shaw and Lewis Roberts-Thomson.

Both are at least five weeks away from returning to action.

Shaw hurt his abdominal muscles in round two against the Gold Coast Suns and Roberts-Thomson injured his knee in round four against Geelong."When you've been out that long it takes time to get back up to speed," Longmire said.

"It's one thing to get your fitness back but you have to then get match fitness back.

"Rhyce is back running but he's still a long way off.

"Lewy's injury has been slow as well. Bone bruising has added to the delay."

The Swans defence has taken the brunt of the injury hits.

Alex Johnson was the first casualty when he suffered a season-ending knee injury during NAB Cup.

Shaw and Roberts-Thomson followed and then Marty Mattner called it quits because of chronic hip problems.

But the injuries have presented the opportunity for Longmire to introduce new blood to his premiership team.

Dane Rampe, Jed Lamb, Tom Mitchell and Brandon Jack have all made their debuts for the club in the first half of the season.

"You never want injuries or your good players out but what it (the injuries) has done is provide opportunities," Longmire said.

"The pleasing thing is it has improved the depth of the squad.

"The players who have come in have done well and the senior players have remained consistent."
